Four Yoga Poses To Help You Find Peace & Calmness

First is Seated Forward Bend with Strap – Sit on your mat with your legs extended in front of you. As best as you can, reach forward and place the strap around the balls of your feet and gently tighten your grip so you feel a slight stretch. Hold for several seconds and release. Repeat several times and remember to breathe. This pose encourages introspection and relaxation, helping to soothe the nervous system and promote inner peace.

Next is Seated Cat-Cow - Sit tall, place hands on knees. Inhale, arch your back, and look up (Cow). Exhale, round your spine, and tuck your chin (Cat). Repeat 4-5 times and remember to breathe. This movement helps release tension in the spine and promotes a gentle flow of energy, creating a calming effect.

When you’re ready we are going to do Corpse Pose with blocks – Get your blocks and lie flat on your back with your legs extended about 1-2 feet apart. Place your blocks under your knees for support and your arms at your side with your palms facing up or on your belly. Whatever makes you comfortable. Close your eyes and focus on your breath. This savasana encourages relaxation and mindfulness, allowing your body and mind to integrate the benefits of your practice.

Lastly, is my favorite, Child’s Pose with a block - You know how to do this pose by now. Place your block in front of you. Kneel on the mat, sit back on your heels with your knees apart, and fold forward, resting your forehead on the block. Allow your arms to extend forward or relax alongside your body. This pose promotes deep relaxation and a sense of safety, helping to quiet the mind. Hold for several minutes and remember to breathe.

Incorporating these poses into your practice can help you cultivate a sense of tranquility and mindfulness.
