4 Yoga Poses for Autumn Reflection

4 yoga poses modified for autumn reflection, with a focus on grounding, letting go (mirroring the falling leaves), and turning inward. Each pose is adapted to be gentle and meditative, ideal for the introspective mood of fall.

You’re going to need a bolster or thick blanket.

Seated Forward Fold – Supported with a Bolster. This pose allows you to let go and surrender, mimicking the trees shedding their leaves.

First, you are going to sit with legs extended, place a bolster or rolled blanket on your legs. Hinge from the hips and fold forward, letting your torso rest on the bolster. Let your head hang or rest on a block. Breathe slowly, staying for 2–5 minutes.

Tree Pose – This pose is great for balance and change like the trees, rooted yet always shifting.

First, stand tall, place one foot on the inner calf or thigh of the opposite leg, bring palms together at your heart, close your eyes or soften your gaze, breathe and feel the sway.

Reclined Twist – This pose provides release and clarity. It helps clear mental clutter and release as the seasons turn inward.

First, lie on your back, knees bent. Drop both knees to one side. Open arms into a side. Gaze softly in the opposite direction of the knees.

Child’s Pose – This pose is great for grounding and inner stillness.

Start with tabletop if you can, draw your big toes together and separate your knees a little wider than hips-width apart. Sit gently on your heels and melt your upper body down, allowing your head to contact the ground or a block. Relax your arms either out in front of you or along your sides. Breathe slowly and deeply for at least one minute.

— perfect for reflecting on what you're ready to release.
