3 Gentle Modified Yoga Poses for Spring Renewal
First is Low Lunge Pose (Supported Heart Opener) - Symbolizes stepping forward into a new season while opening the hips and chest.
Start by stepping one foot forward from hands and knees. Lower the back knee to the mat. Place your hands on blocks or front thigh. Now gently lift the chest.
Modification - Place a blanket under the back knee. Keep your hands on blocks instead of reaching up.
Hold: 5–8 breaths each side.
Next is Cat-Cow Pose (Slow Flow Version) - A soft, flowing movement to wake up the spine and breath, perfect for spring energy.
Start on hands and knees. Inhale: drop belly and lift chest (Cow). Exhale: round spine and tuck chin (Cat).
Modification - Place hands on yoga blocks if wrists are sensitive. Move slowly with breath instead of deep ranges.
Repeat: 6–10 slow cycles.
Lastly is Child's Pose with Shoulder Stretch - A gentle way to lengthen shoulders without weight bearing.
Start with your knees wide, big toes together. Sit hips back toward heels. Walk arms forward.
Modification - Put a pillow between hips and heels or rest chest on a bolster if shoulders are sensitive.
Hold: 8–10 breaths.
